A mother bear swiped a Tahoe camper. The attack cost the bear her life.
Briefly

Early Sunday morning, a mother bear and her two cubs entered Eagle Point Campground in Lake Tahoe, leading to an unfortunate bear-human conflict. After a camper attempted to scare the bear away but was attacked, she sustained injuries that required hospitalization. California wildlife officials decided to euthanize the bear, declaring her a threat to public safety. Meanwhile, the two cubs were captured and taken to a rehabilitation center, presenting a chance for their return to the wild. This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced in bear-human interactions in Tahoe, a prime bear habitat.
Euthanasia is always the measure of last resort. But we are responsible for public safety and well-being in Tahoe as well, and so this bear had become very dangerous and needed to be removed.
The mother bear was trying to get inside. The door to the trailer was locked. Still, the bear forced her way inside.
