TRUCKEE, Calif. -- A 26-year-old Los Angeles man has been identified as a skier who died near Lake Tahoe last week, authorities confirmed. Nicholas Kenworthy died Feb. 6 at the Northstar California Resort in Truckee, according to the Placer County Sheriff's Office. The resort confirmed the deadly incident, only describing it as a "skier incident on the advanced Martis Trail." Details on the type of accident or injuries sustained by Kenworthy were not available.
A Lake Tahoe landmark celebrated for how it encourages people to stop and lean over its railing to admire the water below reopened Tuesday after a full replacement that lasted several months. Fanny Bridge, a historic crossing over the Truckee River, is open again to vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists in Tahoe City. Part of Highway 89 at the southwestern edge of town, Fanny Bridge spans over Lake Tahoe's only outlet via West Lake Boulevard.

The woman filed a legal claim in July against Placer County and several other agencies, saying that after becoming sick, she was unconscious and hospitalized for weeks, the documents showed.
