A new greenhouse and an educational pavilion transform the rooftop of Collège Flora Tristan into a productive and pedagogical urban farm. Located atop a secondary school in Paris, the project supports the work of Veni Verdi, an urban agriculture association that cultivates fruits, vegetables, and flowers as part of the school's educational program. The rooftop, originally intended as a school playground, already offered spatial qualities compatible with productive use.
To make these Chocochunks, Hirayama suggests that bakers should aim for imperfection. "Like everything else in life, I like things irregular and not perfect," she writes. "Same goes for the shape of my cookies and also for the chunks of chocolate." (That's to say: Use and chop baking chocolate, as the recipe instructs, instead of reaching for the bag of chocolate chips.)
Driving past the glittering Triangle d'Or, between the luxury boutiques of Avenue Montaigne and the grandeur of Avenue George V, I nearly missed the unassuming facade.
