A team of 20 French pastry chefs led by Youssef El Gatou created a 121.8-meter-long strawberry cake in Argenteuil, surpassing the previous record. The cake, weighing 1.2 tonnes, utilized 4,000 eggs, 350kg of strawberries, 150kg of sugar, and 415kg of cream, taking a week to complete. This impressive feat was undertaken to promote French agricultural products. Residents were offered a piece of the monumental cake after its unveiling, marking a significant achievement for local culinary arts and community engagement.
To claim the record in the Guinness book, the cake had to be at least eight centimetres wide and eight centimetres tall. The logistics were so difficult that the team "used blowtorches to heat the bowl" for the cream mix, said the chef's wife Nadia El Gatou.
