Studio KO, an AD100 architecture firm led by Karl Fournier and Olivier Marty, completed their first project in Hong Kong, fusing French and Chinese design elements. The home reflects a balance between classic European craftsmanship and local authenticity, steering clear of traditional Asian styles while incorporating culturally significant colors and textures. With a design that prioritizes expansive views of the lush gardens nearby, the residence consists of 5,000 square feet across two floors, maintaining a dialogue between the two cultures while serving the needs of a modern family.
It was a real conversation between our two cultures because they didn't want it to feel too traditionally Asian, but we're very contextual, and we didn't want to do a 'Parisian' apartment in Hong Kong.
They were cautious about it not having a tropical Hong Kong aesthetic, but they are proud of their culture and they brought the way they live to the project.
