RTÉ has concluded its voluntary exit programme, receiving 325 applications. The programme offered options for Voluntary Severance (VS) and Voluntary Early Retirement (VER) for workers with at least two years of service. Director General Kevin Bakhurst emphasized that applications would be considered based on business needs, and roles could be suppressed or savings achieved through redeployment. A structured review process will ensure fair evaluation, with communication of decisions starting September 1 and planned exits on specific future dates through December.
I can confirm that we received a total of 325 applications for the voluntary exit programme. This VEP comprises Voluntary Severance (VS) and Voluntary Early Retirement (VER) schemes available to employees with at least two years' service.
All applications will go through a five-stage review process throughout the coming months, with final decisions on all applications being made by the leadership team and final oversight by the RTÉ board's Remuneration and Management Committee.
