Richard Ayoade has taken on the creative roles of director and star for Kim Deal's music video "Big Ben Beat," part of the Nobody Loves You More album. The video is described as a recursive short film featuring a combination of looped and fragmented scenes that include Deal and Fay Milton from Savages, as well as elements involving Ayoade's family. Ayoade praised Deal for her exceptional talent, stating her work begins at genius level. Kim Deal is set to perform soon, starting with a show in Cincinnati before heading to London and her upcoming tour.
Ayoade, who directed the Breeders' "Spacewoman," back in 2018, recruited his go-to cinematographer, Erik Wilson, who also worked on The Double, for the video.
Ayoade said in a press release that Deal "has few equals—the starting point of her work is genius. And then it goes up from there."
