Campbell has 2 California Distinguished Schools

Two schools in the Campbell Union School District, Capri Elementary and Forest Hill Elementary, were awarded the prestigious title of 2025 California Distinguished Schools. This accolade, given by the California Department of Education, highlights schools that excel in academic achievement or successfully narrow achievement gaps. Capri Elementary received this honor for the first time, while Forest Hill has achieved it five times. Superintendent Shelly Viramontez praised the dedication of students, teachers, and staff in cultivating positive learning environments. A celebration event for the awardees is scheduled for May 30 at Disneyland Hotel.
This year, 336 elementary schools across the state were recognized for demonstrating academic growth and fostering positive school climates, as reported in the 2024 California School Dashboard.
The California Distinguished Schools Program celebrates schools that demonstrate exceptional academic achievement or success in closing the achievement gap.
Our students, teachers, and staff at Capri and Forest Hill have worked incredibly hard to build welcoming, supportive and high-achieving school communities, said Superintendent Shelly Viramontez.
Both Capri and Forest Hill are in the Campbell Union School District, with Capri earning this honor for the first time and Forest Hill for the fifth time.
