School closures: Santa Rosa and Vallejo districts vote to shut down several campuses
Briefly

At school board meetings in Santa Rosa and Vallejo, board members voted on school closures as financial challenges mount. Santa Rosa City School District decided to close three elementary schools but postponed decisions on Elsie Allen High School and three middle schools amid public outcry. Community members voiced concerns about the impact of closures, particularly on Latino students, with fears of increased dropout rates. The region faces a $20 million deficit, driving the need for tough decisions that have intensified tensions among stakeholders.
