Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff apologizes for saying National Guard troops needed in San Francisco | TechCrunch
"Having listened closely to my fellow San Franciscans and our local officials, and after the largest and safest Dreamforce in our history, I do not believe the National Guard is needed to address safety in San Francisco," Benioff said in a post on X. "My earlier comment came from an abundance of caution around the event, and I sincerely apologize for the concern it caused. "
""I fully support the president," and adding that Trump is "doing a great job.""
""I now barely recognize the person I have so long admired.""
Marc Benioff apologized and said he does not believe the National Guard is needed to address safety in San Francisco after consulting with residents and local officials. He cited the largest and safest Dreamforce in the company's history and said his earlier comment came from an abundance of caution. Benioff previously expressed support for President Donald Trump's threats to deploy the National Guard and praised Trump in a media interview. Those comments prompted backlash from allies and Democratic politicians, led to a resignation from the Salesforce Foundation board, and resulted in a canceled event with the San Francisco mayor.
