The body of 35-year-old Nikolas Tomasevic was recovered at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Aquatic Park Cove by the San Francisco Marine Unit with assistance from the SFPD Dive Team, Bomb Squad and volunteers from California Recovery Divers. Tomasevic went missing Saturday morning while swimming and was reported missing by the swimmer he was with after a four-hour delay, which authorities said hindered pinpointing his location. Multiple agencies including SFFD, police, the Coast Guard and Highway Patrol conducted sonar searches without success before the recovery. The Dolphin Swimming and Boating Club lowered flags to half-staff and members expressed concern a seizure may have caused the incident.
Very strong swimmer and dedicated swimming. He would swim year-round, winter and summer,
A seizure- that if he had a seizure in the water that would be it. He said that, kind of in passing to someone else in the past,
Unfortunately, that person waited four hours to let us know. That is the gap in time that doesn't really allow us to get a pinpoint location,
This is a tight community, and Nikolas was part of it as are his friends. It's a sad day here,
