A woman whose body was pulled from the Santa Ana River in Orange County on New Year's Day has been identified as 39-year-old Alejandra Ramirez Torres, coroner's officials said. Her body had been carried by the river's current from Santa Ana to Fountain Valley before it could be retrieved by fire crews. Ramirez Torres was the mother of two daughters, ages 11 and 16, according to a GoFundMe created by her relatives.
A man who died trying to save two people from the sea in East Yorkshire on Friday was attempting to rescue a mother and her teenage daughter, Humberside police have said. The body of Sarah Keeling, 45, was recovered from Withernsea on Friday, while Grace Keeling, 15, remains missing after being washed away. Mark Ratcliffe, who tried to save them, was pulled unconscious from the water and died at the scene.

A missing toddler has died after being discovered in a neighbor's pool, Riverside County authorities said Saturday. The girl, who has not been identified, was rushed to a hospital but pronounced deceased at the facility. Shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday, Riverside County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of a drowning on the 30000 block of Wellington Circle in Temecula.

A teenager died Sunday evening in an apparent drowning at Hampton Beach, according to New Hampshire State Police. At around 6:46 p.m., the State Police Marine Patrol received a report of a possible drowning. The teenager, a 17-year-old boy whose name is not being released due to his age, had been swimming with family members when he was pulled away from the shore by a strong ocean current, witnesses told police.
