Dozens arrested in recent SF park drug raid were already wanted on warrants: officials
Briefly

San Francisco police have intensified efforts to combat outdoor drug markets, arresting 86 individuals in a recent raid. Among those arrested, 31 had outstanding warrants across multiple counties. Police Chief Bill Scott emphasized a proactive approach to tackling drug issues, stating officials will pursue both dealers and public drug use violators. The arrests included many for misdemeanor offenses connected to drug use in public parks. Despite growing optimism among community members regarding police efforts, concerns about drug activities persist, indicating a complex challenge ahead.
"Our strategy is to go to where the problem is and try to prevent the problem from becoming a bigger problem," said San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott.
"The message is really simple, we're going to come after you if you're dealing. People that are out using drugs in public, that's also illegal," said Chief Scott.
"We did have a few people that were arrested for dealing drugs. I think the majority though are related to misdemeanor crimes... using drugs in the park," said San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins.
"Thirty-one of the 86 already had outstanding warrants and they went across multiple counties... where people were already wanted," said Scott.
