The Federal Communications Commission recently approved Starlink and T-Mobile's satellite texting service for Florida residents, providing crucial emergency communications during Hurricane Milton.
As per SpaceX's announcement, Starlink's Direct to Cell system will enable emergency alerts for all phone users, not limited to T-Mobile subscribers, in affected areas.
Despite only launching initial tests in January, T-Mobile has rolled out this emergency texting service to residents in hurricane-impacted regions, demonstrating its urgency and adaptability.
T-Mobile subscribers in Florida are now able to send and receive texts and contact 911 for emergencies, even without traditional network access during the storm.
