Gianna Buzzetta, a rising pastry chef at the Michelin-starred Jeune et Jolie in Carlsbad, tragically passed away at 26 due to a hiking accident in Kauai. Known for her relentless work ethic and passion, Buzzetta began her culinary journey at 17 and worked multiple jobs to achieve her dreams. Following her untimely death, the restaurant staff organized a fundraising dinner to cover her family's substantial medical and burial expenses, reflecting the tight-knit nature of the culinary community and the impact Buzzetta had on those around her.
Gianna was an absolutely incredible human, and a true pleasure to work alongside. Our entire team at Jeune is really missing her.
