In rural New South Wales, the Evans family resides in the "Girvan Tower," believed to be Australia's tallest private residence. Gaining viral attention from a passerby's video, the family clarified misconceptions about their lifestyle, emphasizing their dedication to running Vast Harvest Permaculture, a self-sustainable food forest across 400 acres. James Evans expressed their reluctance to showcase the house, aiming to shift focus from luxury to community benefit. Instead of living lavishly, they prioritize sustainability and practical living, demonstrated by their modest belongings and commitment to community-oriented projects.
"Everyone was saying it's a hotel and this and that, so [I thought] I may as well clarify the facts," James said.
"We're nothing fancy. I drive an old HiLux and even if I had the money to buy a Lamborghini I wouldn't, I would spend it on something that's beneficial for the community..."
The "Girvan Tower" on Girvan Estate is believed to be the tallest private residence in the country and was built for the late Peter Grey over six years.
The family now run Vast Harvest Permaculture - a completely self-sustainable food forest and orchard - across 400 acres.
