First Minister John Swinney condemned the behavior of a "minority of fans" after the Old Firm violence, labeling it as "completely unacceptable" and causing public distress.
He stated, "The clubs have got to address the behavior of a minority of their fans... It caused fear and distress and alarm to people who were enjoying Christmas shopping."
Police Scotland indicated that use of weapons and violence would not be tolerated, urging the community to come forward with any information related to the incidents.
Though the majority of fans attended the match without incident, Swinney emphasized that both clubs bear responsibility for ensuring proper conduct among their supporters.
