People Can Fly has announced the suspension of two in-development projects, Gemini and Bifrost, along with significant layoffs. CEO Sebastian Wojciechowski cited challenges in securing necessary publishing agreements and a communication breakdown with an unspecified publisher, which impacted cash flow. Last December, the studio had similarly halted work on another project, Victoria, and reduced staffing for Bifrost, indicating ongoing difficulties. Despite these setbacks, People Can Fly will continue developing the next Gears of War title in partnership with The Coalition.
"Today we made the very difficult decision to suspend the development of project Gemini and project Bifrost," wrote People Can Fly CEO Sebastian Wojciechowski on the studio's LinkedIn page.
Wojciechowski wrote that cancellations were due to an unspecified publisher's failure to present necessary publishing agreements, and a 'lack of communication' regarding whether or not the publisher wants to continue with development.
