Lip-Bu Tan, Intel's new CEO, has called for ruthless customer feedback to address the company's performance shortcomings since his leadership began. During his first public address as CEO, he acknowledged Intel's failure to adapt quickly to market demands and expressed a commitment to improvement. Tan also shared plans to divest non-core businesses for enhanced focus and hinted at possible ventures into robotics. Tan succeeded Pat Gelsinger, who left in December, and aims to revive Intel's competitiveness in a challenging market.
"We had been too slow to adapt and to meet your needs," Lip-Bu Tan said about customers on Monday at an Intel event in Las Vegas. "You deserve better, and we need to improve, and we will. Please be brutally honest with us."
"I love this company. It was hard for me to watch it struggle," he said about joining Intel at this stage in his career. "I simply cannot stay on the sideline knowing that I could help turn things around."
