X, owned by Elon Musk, plans to shut its San Francisco office, moving workers to San Jose and opening an engineering-focused office in Palo Alto shared with xAI.
Mr. Musk decided to move the company's headquarters to Texas due to California banning school districts from notifying parents if children change gender identification.
X, previously known as Twitter, skipped rent payments to Shorenstein and tried cost-cutting measures like converting office space into bedrooms for traveling employees.
Mr. Musk, X representative, and Shorenstein did not respond to requests for comment on the office closure.
