Ontario's programs intended to support automotive businesses are inadequate for small enterprises facing the negative effects of tariffs and economic uncertainty. A Canadian Federation of Independent Business report, based on a survey of 187 automotive sector businesses, reveals an average revenue decline of 13 percent. Half of these businesses reported pausing or cancelling investments, worsened by confusion over affected products and new supply chain costs. The provincial government allocated $85 million for two support programs, but many small businesses do not plan to utilize them, indicating a gap in effective assistance.
