Elon Musk faces yet another potential copyright controversy
Briefly

Elon Musk's AI company xAI has encountered legal challenges over its Grok name, which was already trademarked by a small startup, Bizly. The startup, founded by Ron Shah, claims Grok for its asynchronous meeting platform. Shah noted the difficulties his company faces in gaining traction due to the overwhelming presence of Musk's $80 billion enterprises. While his Grok app was in beta, investor concerns over trademark conflicts have hindered fundraising efforts, threatening the viability of Bizly's product development.
"We really like the Grok name, but we don't have the financial power to compete with an $80bn company. Even if Coca-Cola let another smaller beverage company use the Coke name, the smaller Coke would never be able to get anywhere given the sheer ubiquity of the bigger Coke. That's what we're facing here."
"Ron says he received messages of congratulations when Musk launched Grok because people assumed the billionaire Tesla CEO had bought the name from him. Not so, Ron says."
