Starlink is expanding its satellite broadband services in Brazil through a partnership with John Deere, supporting rural agriculture connectivity and targeting underserved regions. With equipment shipments starting in January 2025, sales have already exceeded 2,000 units. This collaboration allows farmers access to live data and advanced features via John Deere's mobile app. The rugged Starlink terminals and cellular modems, integrating seamlessly with agricultural machines, aim to enhance operational efficiency amid the 20% of U.S. regions lacking reliable internet connectivity, dominated by AT&T's 4G network.
"We're actually seeing sales surpass expectation at this point," said Aaron Wetzel, VP of production and precision ag production systems at John Deere, in an interview with Mobile World Live.
"For us to really create the value for them through our technology solutions, we need to bring that connectivity to them."
Starlink service delivers downlink speeds of 50Mb/s to 100Mb/s, uplink speeds of 10Mb/s to 20Mb/s, and latency between 20 and 70 milliseconds.
The company offers Starlink equipment as an aftermarket product, shipped directly from factories.
