General Motors has appointed Sterling Anderson, an experienced figure in the autonomous vehicle industry, as its new VP of global product and chief product officer. Starting June 2, Andersonâs role will spectrum the entire lifecycle of GM's vehicle portfolio, including hardware and software. Previously co-founding autonomous vehicle company Aurora, he left to join GM after realizing the impactful potential of the role. Under GMâs refresh agenda led by CEO Mary Barra, he will coordinate various engineering and product teams directing efforts toward modernization and electrification of vehicles.
