MVRDV Unveils An Adaptable & Stacked Marketplace With A Modern Twist In Taiwan - Yanko Design
Briefly

Dutch architecture firm MVRDV presents the Market Cube, a highly versatile marketplace in Zhubei, Taiwan, designed with adaptability in mind. Covering 18,962 square meters and rising eight floors, it features a mix of market spaces, food courts, exhibition areas, and a daycare center. The design incorporates external terraces, a pedestrian bridge, and ensures functional flexibility by allowing each level to be independently accessible. This innovative approach aims to evolve the concept of traditional markets into modern urban centers that resonate with future community needs.
"With its stack of open, flexible floors that can adapt to changing demands, the building acts as an urban condenser and is envisaged as the next step in the evolution of the market."
