Homeless man starved to death after trapping hand in skylight
Briefly

Khaled Aribi, an Algerian asylum seeker, was found dead on July 27, having been hanging from a skylight for nearly a week. His last known address was unoccupied at the time of his death, as he was identified as having no fixed abode. During the inquest, it was determined that he had attempted to enter through a skylight, which closed on his fingers, trapping him. Toxicology revealed he had cocaine and a psychiatric drug in his system, and he had been receiving mental health care due to anxiety and depression. He was also noted as being vulnerable and at risk of exploitation.
His hand appeared to be trapped between the glass of the skylight and the stone of the ceiling. It would seem that he had gained access to the roof of the kitchen.
Toxicology tests on Mr. Aribi's liver found cocaine and a psychiatric drug called Pregabalin. He had mixed anxiety and depression and had been under the care of Camden and Islington mental health team.
