A briefing document prepared for Minister Norma Foley revealed that a compliance team set up in June 2023 has conducted extensive investigations into state-provided accommodation for Ukrainian refugees. Of 639 investigations, 351 contracts were terminated due to non-compliance with health, safety, and well-being standards, including overcharging. With a decline in new arrivals, the department is focusing on consolidating accommodation and addressing compliance issues through a helpdesk system that has now managed over 49,500 queries since its inception.
