Catapult ban petition to get government response
Briefly

A campaign led by Danni Rogers seeks to ban catapults due to increasing violence against wildlife and public safety concerns. Triggered by various attacks, more than 10,000 signatures have been gathered for a parliamentary petition, prompting mandatory government action. Rogers emphasizes the potential danger of catapults in public, with support from police officials. The petition must reach 100,000 signatures for a parliamentary debate by May 27, illustrating rising public concern about catapult-related incidents and the need for legislative change.
Bob Dale BBC/ADRIAN HARMS An attempt to ban the sale and carrying in public of catapults is to receive an official response from the government.
Mr Rogers said he hoped the government response would 'recognize there is an issue with catapult crime, and not just fall back on saying the current legislation is sufficient.'
'We've had over 5,000 signatures in less than a week, we hit the threshold on Saturday and it's continually rising,' he said.
'The biggest part is carrying in public. No-one should be carrying any sort of weapon in public.'
