Kate Osborne, Labour MP for Jarrow and Gateshead East, is under investigation by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (Ipsa) over the alleged breach of expenses guidelines related to travel and subsistence costs. The inquiry focuses on her use of taxis post-spine operation in February, recommended by Parliament's health service. Osborne expressed confidence in her compliance with the rules and emphasized her commitment to representing her constituents. She is the second Labour MP facing an Ipsa investigation this year, following Tahir Ali's inquiry into office and travel spending.
"Whilst this operation was a success it has not helped my disability, it has highlighted other issues and I am afraid has left me still in a lot of pain which the consultant has said will be for the rest of my life."
Osborne stated, "I want my constituents to know that my priority is, has been and always will be to fight for you, and do my best to represent you in Parliament and in the constituency."
