Cornell graduates aim to 'lead from the front' as military officers | Cornell Chronicle
Briefly

Samuel Rabin, the outgoing cadet commander of Cornell's ROTC, reflects on his demanding training under harsh weather conditions, emphasizing the importance of setting an example for peers. His experiences contributed significantly to his leadership development as he prepares to become a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. During a recent commissioning ceremony, he and 25 other graduates from various military branches received their ranks and participated in honoring military protocols such as the first salute and oath of office administration, marking a significant milestone in their military careers.
I wanted to set an example and help motivate others...if people are still going up the slope while it's raining and wet and cold, then you can, too.
Continue to lead from the front. Set the example and be the officer that your future soldiers, marines, airmen and guardians deserve.
In total, 26 graduating brigade cadets and midshipmen...received commissions as second lieutenants or ensigns in the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Space Force.
Each commissioning graduate exchanged a first salute with an enlisted officer...the brigade swore to support and defend the Constitution.
