Explosion and fire at Taunton home seriously injures mother and 2-year-old child

"From what I believe, the female got out. She realized the child was inside the house. She went back in for her child, and that's when she suffered her injuries. Lavigne added that the severity of the injuries, according to witnesses, appeared serious, though their current conditions were not immediately known."

A 25-year-old mother and her 2-year-old child were hospitalized with serious injuries after the mother re-entered the burning home to rescue her child. The home is a total loss, displacing eight residents, and two neighboring homes sustained significant burn damage. Firefighters used ground and aerial attacks with assistance from the Raynham Fire Department. The cause remains under investigation by the Taunton Fire Department, Taunton Police Department, and the State Fire Marshal's Office.
