Road rage in Newport Beach bike lane leads to one arrest, seizure of BMW, police say
"Fetzer said that, early on in the incident, he sprayed water at one of the cars in frustration but didn't expect the reaction he got. He described how the cars swerved at them, honked, and put the cyclists' lives in danger."
"Ben Byra, Fetzer's friend, stated, 'He's like inches away from my rear wheel. A couple lights down they all got out of their cars.'"
Luke Fetzer and his friend experienced aggressive behavior from two vehicles while cycling on Pacific Coast Highway. One vehicle, a blue BMW, tailgated and forced a cyclist out of the bike lane. The incident, captured on video, included slurs and threats from the vehicle occupants. Samir Sweiss was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. The police investigation continues, and a blue BMW was seized as evidence.
