China's Foreign Ministry has responded strongly to new U.S. tariffs imposed by President Trump, declaring its readiness to confront the U.S. in a 'tariff war or any other war.' Spokesperson Lin Jian criticized the U.S. approach, stating that applying pressure on China is misguided. China also defended itself against U.S. claims linking tariffs to fentanyl trafficking, arguing that such claims are simply pretexts for enforcing punitive trade measures. In retaliation, China announced new tariffs on U.S. agricultural products and emphasized its commitment to international drug control obligations in its response.
Exerting extreme pressure on China is the wrong target and the wrong calculation. If the US has other intentions and insists on a tariff war, trade war or any other war, China will fight to the end.
We advise the US to put away its bullying face and return to the right track of dialogue and cooperation as soon as possible.
If war is what the US wants, be it a tariff war, a trade war or any other type of war, we’re ready to fight till the end.
China strongly objects to Trump’s attempts to link the tariffs to the flow of fentanyl from China to the US, stating that it’s an excuse for harsh trade measures.
