Giuliani hurt in crash after helping domestic violence victim, spokesperson says
Briefly

The vehicle was flagged down by a woman who was the victim of a domestic-violence incident prior to the crash. Mayor Giuliani immediately rendered assistance, contacted 911, and remained on scene until responding officers ensured the woman's safety. While traveling on the highway afterward, Giuliani's vehicle was struck. He was taken to a nearby trauma center and diagnosed with a fractured thoracic vertebra, multiple lacerations and contusions, and injuries to his left arm and lower leg. Two other people sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to area hospitals. Both vehicles were heavily damaged. No charges were filed and the crash remains under investigation. Giuliani is in good spirits and recovering.
Giuliani's security chief, Michael Ragusa, said in a statement posted to X that the vehicle the 81-year-old was in was "flagged down by a woman who was the victim of a domestic violence incident" prior to the crash. "Mayor Giuliani immediately rendered assistance and contacted 911," Ragusa said. "He remained on the scene until responding officers ensured her safety" and his vehicle was later struck while traveling on the highway, per Ragusa.
Giuliani was taken to a nearby trauma center "where he was diagnosed with a fractured thoracic vertebrae, multiple lacerations and contusions, as well as injuries to his left arm and lower leg," Ragusa said. Goodman and the driver of the other vehicle, identified as Lauren Kemp, 19, of Concord, N.H, also sustained "non-life-threatening injuries and were taken by ambulance to area hospitals for treatment," police said. Giuliani is "in good spirits and recovering tremendously," Ragusa said.
