Rudy Giuliani, 81, was a passenger in a rented Ford Bronco that was struck from behind by a Honda HR-V driven by a 19-year-old woman on Interstate 93 in New Hampshire late Saturday. Troopers witnessed the crash, which sent both vehicles into the highway median and left them heavily damaged. Giuliani was taken to a trauma center for a fractured thoracic vertebra, multiple lacerations and contusions, and injuries to his left arm and lower leg. He is reported to be in good spirits and recovering. State police are investigating; no charges have been filed.

Giuliani "sustained injuries but is in good spirits and recovering tremendously," Ragusa said, adding: "This was not a targeted attack."
