Casa Tobi in Oaxaca, Mexico, designed by Espacio 18 Arquitectura, integrates seamlessly with its natural landscape, following the land’s contours rather than imposing a structure. The home creates an immersive experience for visitors, beginning with a reflective pool that cools the environment and collects rainwater. As guests move through the site, a pathway leads to a spacious interior that blurs the line between indoors and nature, promoting a strong connection with the lush surroundings. The design ethos emphasizes intentionality, functionality, and the poetic relationship between architecture and the site.
Rather than imposing a rigid structure onto the rugged terrain, the home was developed to follow the contours of the land, embracing the slope, the jungle, and the horizon line.
Approaching Casa Tobi feels more like discovering a hidden enclave than arriving at a luxury residence. The experience begins at the uppermost elevation of the site, where a reflecting pool greets guests.
Espacio 18's approach prioritizes connection above all else. At the central level of the home-where living, dining, and social spaces converge-glass and air replace conventional boundaries.
It's this sensitivity to site that makes Casa Tobi remarkable-where views are not just framed but absorbed, and where every design gesture is intentional, functional, and poetic.
