Sebastian Jimenez, CEO of Rilla, mandates a 70-hour work week for employees but offers competitive compensation and unique benefits. Traditional perks include medical insurance and gym memberships, but a standout is the $1,500 monthly rent stipend for employees living within a 10-minute commute. This incentive aims to maximize office presence, reflecting the company's hustle culture. Jimenez emphasizes clarity in expectations for prospective employees. He acknowledges that such an approach may not suit every startup but aligns with Rilla's operational philosophy.
"If you live 30 minutes away from the office, that's an hour a day that you could be working," says Jimenez, who also lives within a short walk to the office.
"This is by no means the way to run every startup," says Jimenez. "This is just the way it works for us."
