Gamefound, now in its third year, has established itself as a formidable competitor to Kickstarter in the crowdfunding space for tabletop games, finishing 2024 with $85 million in funding, marking a 52% increase from the previous year. While still trailing Kickstarter's $220 million, Gamefound boasts several high-profile campaigns that reflect its growing impact. The platform's appeal lies in its focus on reliability and supportive business relationships, attracting prominent publishers and projects that might have otherwise chosen Kickstarter. Overall, Gamefound has been key in enhancing options for tabletop creators.
From my perspective it was a good step and it comes down to one of the key reasons for Gamefound's creation... if you are running a big business and hiring a lot of people, you need stability and reliable partnerships.
While Kickstarter can claim the year's highest-grossing campaign, Gamefound hosted six of the top 10 overall, indicating a significant shift in the funding landscape.
