Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of Final Fantasy, is set to develop another game following the success of Fantasian, released recently on consoles. Interviewed by The Verge, he shared insights on the project being inspired by Final Fantasy 6, a classic revered for its emotional depth and storytelling. Sakaguchi initially considered Fantasian Neo Dimension to be his last project but found the collaboration with his team rewarding and fulfilling. He aims to produce a game that retains the essence of earlier works while bringing a newfound creativity that pays homage to the beloved franchise.
I was thinking of making Fantasian Neo Dimension my final work, but the fantastic team that was assembled... was so enjoyable to work with that I found it hard to part ways.
It's generally going to follow a similar style to my previous works, and it'll be something that can be a successor to Final Fantasy 6 in a good way - our goal is to create something old but new at the same time.
