Limited Run Blames Supplier For NES Carts That Damaged Consoles
Briefly

Limited Run Games acknowledged a serious issue with their recently sold NES game cartridges, which were reported to potentially damage consoles due to incorrect voltage regulation. The problem originated from a change in supplier, leading to the production of 3.3V cartridges instead of the necessary 5V. Users pointed out specific titles suffering from this defect, prompting the company to investigate the matter further and offer refunds or replacements for impacted customers. The manufacturer responsible had only produced a limited number of titles for Limited Run Games, and further reviews of their output are underway.
Upon learning about this issue from our community, we immediately began investigating and can confirm that due to an issue with voltage regulation, there is a small chance that prolonged use of these titles could result in damage to either the cartridge or the console hardware.
This means that parts on the board draw power from incorrect signals that will eventually damage both the cart and the NES itself.
