Nintendo has clarified that Mario Kart World, a highly anticipated launch title for the Switch 2, does not utilize AI-generated images in its development. This statement comes after fans expressed concerns about certain peculiar billboards showcased during a Nintendo Treehouse livestream that suggested AI involvement. While the game's release on June 5 approaches, Nintendo assures fans that the visuals are not the result of generative AI technology, alleviating worries regarding the authenticity of the game's artwork, especially amidst discussions on its pricing.
AI-generated images were not used in the development of Mario Kart World," a Nintendo spokesperson said.
The images in question were billboards with text like "We Build Your Town" or "We Build Your Dreams" accompanied by odd images.
