"I think it's something we've seen from the community, whether you look at the Discord, at the Reddit, at the socials, people are talking about it, asking for that kind of stuff," Phasmophobia marketing manager Asim Tanvir said to VideoGamer. "Again, it's about the demand from the playerbase, the community, for that, and it's about whether it falls in line with our vision for the game as well."
Tanvir mentioned that some IPs would be a good fit and something could happen in the future if developer Kinetic Games changes its mind, but the studio is now focusing on delivering new content for its playerbase.
Phasmophobia became a big hit when it first launched on PC back in 2020, as playing it or watching streams of it during the early years of the COVID-19 pandemic made for some great entertainment.
...it's about whether it falls in line with our vision for the game as well. We don't want to put--for example--the actual Ghostbusters in the game. It just wouldn't make sense. That's not the tonal shift we want from our game, right?
