Marufuji, a new grocery store in Tysons, specializes in Japanese products and offers a selection of around 18,000 square feet filled with authentic goods. This store, a spinoff of a family-owned chain, is unique to Northern Virginia which traditionally lacks large Japanese-focused grocery stores. Customers can find premium sushi-grade fish and high-quality Wagyu beef sourced directly from Japan and local areas. Additionally, a cafe offers various Japanese dishes, emphasizing the store's commitment to providing an immersive Japanese shopping experience while maintaining good relations with local businesses.
"We made sure to choose a location that was far enough away where we wouldn't take any of their customers," says VP Joshua Nakama, highlighting the store's commitment to community harmony.
"The cool thing about them is they actually don't even do the slaughtering and shipping until we order, and so it's some of the freshest beef you're going to see in America," Nakama explains about their Wagyu offering.
