After undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2023, MLB player Cade Cavalli turned to painting to fill his time. Inspired by years of watching Bob Ross, he converted a garage into a makeshift studio where he painted landscapes, particularly mountain ranges. Art runs in his family, and painting became a passion that mirrored his rehab journey, emphasizing the need for visualization and resilience in both pitching and creative processes. His experience reflects how unexpected pursuits can provide therapeutic outlets during challenging times.
I was just blown away. I've tried doing Bob Ross stuff, and there's just no way. It just doesn't come out the same.
You have to have an end product in mind. It's just like visualizing the pitch before you throw it.
It's crazy because there's also some misses that can happen in painting. What are you going to do with those misses?
Painting challenged me in a new way. It parallels my rehabilitation process: starting from scratch to eventually create a polished product.
