Trump administration sued over effort to end collective bargaining for federal workers

The National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU) has filed a lawsuit to block President Trump's executive order, which limits collective bargaining for federal employees. The order specifically impacts over 100,000 members by disrupting union dues deduction, undermining the union's power. Citing violations of labor rights and constitutional issues, the NTEU argues this move is retaliatory and harms employee rights. Eight agencies simultaneously filed against local union contracts, showcasing a coordinated effort to restrict union influence amid claims of safeguarding national security from the administration.

The NTEU said Trump issued the order to punish unions that have challenged many of his efforts to purge the federal workforce.

The strength and influence of any union correlate directly with the size of its membership, the NTEU said.
