Nesta proposes three phases for ground or air source heat pumps installation: Acceleration (now to 2028) and Scaling Up (2028 to 2035) to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.
During the 'acceleration' phase, Nesta aims to increase annual low-carbon heating installations significantly, driven by heat pump supply chains' growth and enhanced energy efficiency.
In the 'Scaling Up' phase, the goal is to double the annual installations of low-carbon heating systems, surpassing fossil fuel heating systems' rate, thus achieving fossil fuel-free homes by 2035.
