A $200 DIY Project Adds Tons of Function to This Gray "Blank Slate" Kitchen
Briefly

Cindi Yang's kitchen makeover in her loft apartment highlights both the unique aesthetic appeal and design challenges of loft living. While appreciating features like the tall ceilings and concrete floors, Yang faced hurdles such as largely gray and white walls and the high vertical space needing decoration. With the help of friends, she maximized her design possibilities by accessorizing creatively and applying DIY techniques, including a unique dining table made from an old office conference table. Her transformation, completed for $850, showcases resourcefulness and a keen eye for decor.
I did not love all the gray and the super-white walls. I decided to work around these elements and bring the color and personality in with the decor.
One of the biggest challenges was figuring out what to do with the space above the cabinets. I didn't have a 12-foot ladder on hand for the 13-foot ceilings.
The artwork adds some more personality and flair to a very blank canvas. I especially love how they tie in the green of the plants.
I DIYed my concrete table for around $200 instead of buying a new one.
