Hackett Gardens House / Ben Walker Architects
Briefly

The newly designed single-storey house in Canberra's Turner suburb utilizes a U-shaped layout that prioritizes both privacy and connection to nature. The interior features three distinct zones—parents', living, and children's—surrounding a central court. Strategic placement of courtyards and privacy screens enhances seclusion while allowing generous light and views. The design incorporates a cohesive mix of natural materials, including cream brick and birch ply, with innovative saw-tooth roofs that optimize solar gain and interior height. This project reflects the client’s requests for personalization and a harmonious living environment.
