O Plant-based Thao Dien Cafe / xuong xep
Briefly

The architects approached the redesign of a garden-based café by prioritizing subtraction over addition, aiming to enhance the site's natural qualities. The goal was to maintain the garden's integrity while integrating it with a café serving plant-based offerings. Through minimal architectural interventions such as soft partitions that allow fluid transitions, the structure fosters a harmonious relationship between the café and garden, ensuring both coexist. A focus on simplicity and purposeful design resulted in a refined architectural expression that values the existing environment and enhances functionality without intruding upon nature.
In architecture, we are often accustomed to adding... instead of adding, we deliberately subtracted artificial interventions.
Soft, implied partitions were introduced... ensuring privacy while maintaining a strong connection to the garden.
