The Selman Stërmasi Stadium in Tirana will undergo a major renovation led by OMA, following their winning design proposal. Originally constructed in 1956, the stadium will not only expand its seating capacity from 9,500 to 15,000 but will also transform the surrounding area into a mixed-use space featuring apartments, a hotel, offices, and retail outlets. This redevelopment aims to enhance connectivity between the Blloku and Komuna e Parisit neighborhoods. Inspired by Albania’s ancient architectural heritage, the design incorporates natural stone elements and aims to create a vibrant civic space usable year-round.
The revitalization of Tirana's Selman Stërmasi Stadium by OMA emphasizes a blend of sports, culture, and urban life, enhancing connectivity between neighborhoods.
OMA's design for Selman Stërmasi Stadium draws inspiration from Albania's ancient architecture, merging the old with the new in a contemporary urban context.
